General description
Phosphorus pentoxide (P2O5) is a commonly used drying agent.[1] It is a component of Eatons reagent, which is commonly used as a catalyst for dehydration reactions.[2]
Application
Phosphorus pentoxide may be used in the synthesis of the following:
- Hydroxyapatite (HA) sub-micron fibers.[3]
- Fluorescent carbon nanoparticles (FCNPs).[4]
- Bistetramethylammonium (TMA) hydrogencyclotriphosphate and rubidium cyclotetraphosphate using dimethyl sulfoxide as a solvent at low temperature condition.[5]
- Ethylene glycol methacrylate phosphate (EGMP), a UV-reactive phosphonic acid.[6]
